Good day for Sulu, Pitshou

Trust Khosa

SULUMAN Chimbetu and Pitshou Lumiere had a good time last Friday when they thrilled guests at the 63rd Democratic Republic of Congo Independence anniversary at the Rainbow Towers.

The event, which turned out to be a rhumba affair, was attended by diplomats, business executives and members of the DRC community resident in Zimbabwe.

Fellow rhumba players – Kaninda Dhodi from Lubumbashi Stars and Ruffa Salutanie (Real Sounds of Africa) – graced the event.

The duo of Dhodi and Salutanie added variety on the night where part of the proceeds raised at the event are set to be handed over to victims of the civil war in eastern DRC.

Pitshou delivered songs such as Sinamakosa, Dis is Good and Amahule.

Sulu put the icing on the cake as he sang both his father’s compositions and his own tracks.

In true spirit of solidarity, he sang the track One Way as a way of uniting people.

He saluted the DRC community resident in Zimbabwe for maintaining peace and tranquillity.

It was Pitshou who made sure the day didn’t pass unnoticed as he organised a business dinner.

He vowed to continue organising similar events in future as a way of remembering some of their heroes/heroines who fought for their independence.
