ZIMBABWEAN professional golfers Robson Chinhoi and Stuart Krog had a good finish at the Mopani Zambia Open at Nkana Golf Club in Zambia yesterday.
The duo was part of the large contingent of Zimbabwean golfers who had entered the tournament which had a purse value of US$150 000.
Zimbabweans included professionals Chinhoi, Krog, Nyasha Muyambo, Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa, Promise Sombreiro, Tatenda Makunde, Conrade Makoto and amateurs Keegan Shutt and Tanaka Chatora. It was Chinhoi and Krog who made the cut after the opening two qualifying rounds and fared well until the final round.
Chinhoi had rounds of 76, 70, 65 and 74, while Krog on the other hand managed to card 71, 75, 73 and 70 for a one-over total.
A third round of seven under-par 65 on Saturday’s third round had taken Chinhoi back in the title race but yesterday, he had three bogeys on succession from hole number one to hole number three as he finished the round on two-over-74.
Chinhoi went on to finish tied on position 20 after a three-under-par after he closed yesterday’s round on two-over 74, as Krog was tied on position 40.
The tournament was won by South African, Samuel Simpson on 11-under after rounds of 72, 65, 71 and 69.
