A family from Nyashongwe village in Kezi, Matobo district that has been providing food meal packets to the needy in their community is reportedly in trouble with the law amid allegations that they have been using their charity kitchen to incite political activities in their community.
Mr Liveson Sediba-Siziba and his wife, Ms Lotaris Ncube had been running the kitchen for a number of months. Mr Sediba-Siziba is a pastor at the Twelve Apostle church.
According to members in the community the two would distribute the meal packets after every church service targeting the needy within the area and the church.
However, it has since been alleged that the two were using their house to feed members of the Mthwakazi party and other opposition movements where they would hold illegal meetings meant to incite the community to political violence.
“As a community we knew this family as good Samaritans who would feed the needy and also at times even distribute clothing items to them. Their house was always a hive of activity as they were always will to help the community anyhow.
“We were actually surprised when Mr Sediba-Siziba was actually arrested on allegations that they were harbouring opposition elements. After that arrest Ms Ncube also went into hiding telling neighbours that she feared that she will also be arrested as they were being targeted for something they did not do,” said a villager who identified himself as a Mr Masuku.
Police sources confirmed investigations of the conduct of the family.
“We got complaints from villagers that the two had since turned their house into some sort of hub for opposition members especially those from the Mthwakazi party. They would hide being the charity kitchen notion but our investigations showed that their house was now used to plan political activities within the community,” said the source.
The source however refused to confirm Mr Sediba-Siziba’s arrest.
