Rutendo Gwatidzo-Changing Perspectives
“I TURNED 40 and with excitement, waited for things to change for the better, but the situation seemed to get worse. I kept hoping and waiting until I turned 45 and that is when I realised that we do not just become. With deep frustration and disappointment I sought help on how to plan for my life and most importantly how to intentionally execute the plans for my life,” said one of my pastors one Sunday during his sermon in church.
Often times in life, many people wait for luck to locate them for opportunities.
They hope that good things will simply arrive, ready-made, without effort or sacrifice.
But, life does not work that way.
Good things — the kind that last and transform, never come on a silver platter.
Oftentimes we do not get what we think we deserve but, what we fight for, with winning strategies.
Effort Is the Foundation
Every meaningful achievement begins with effort.
The student who dreams of top grades must study always. The entrepreneur who wants a thriving business must take risks and make countless decisions.
The leader who seeks to inspire change must first serve, learn and grow. Nothing of value is given freely; it is earned, shaped by discipline, persistence, and courage.
Effort is more than action; it is consistency. It is showing up even when no one is watching, even when the outcome is uncertain. It is the daily choice to do what is right, even when it is difficult.
Challenges Are Part of the Process
The journey toward good things is rarely smooth. Challenges, setbacks, and what others call failures are inevitable.
But these obstacles are not punishments; they are teachers. Each difficulty sharpens our character, builds resilience, and clarifies our purpose.
Those who succeed do not avoid challenges, they embrace them, learn from them, and move forward stronger.
Purpose Drives Progress
Effort without purpose is directionless. In order to produce results, we must know why we do what we do. Purpose turns work into impact, struggle into growth, and effort into achievement. When you act with intention, every step, challenge, and sacrifice becomes meaningful.
The Power of Patience
Good things also require patience. Instant results are rare, in most cases, transformation takes time. Success is rarely a single event, it is a series of deliberate actions, small victories, and lessons learned along the way. The patient do not settle for shortcuts, they understand that the journey shapes the value of the reward. Napoleon Hill once said – “patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”
Your Hands, Your Destiny!
Ultimately, the silver platter is a myth. Life hands out only what we create with our own hands, minds, and hearts. Every achievement begins with a decision to act, work, and persevere. Those who wait passively may wish for good things, but those who act and persevere in the process will build good things and live them. Organisational Status!
One of the challenges in most organisations is that of having employees who want to reap without sowing. Others sow sparingly and expect bumper harvest. In other words, they put little or no effort yet they expect great outcome. These are the likes of those who do not meet their targets all year round but still expect 13th cheque towards the end of year. This culture has crippled a significant number of organisations.
I once dealt with an organisation that was so close to closing operations because its business had been dwindling down over years yet the employees were claiming bonus. When we started to study the operations trends together with the management, we realised that the business had long serving employees who had become redundant over years and now they expected to be rewarded for long service yet, the long service of non-performance is what had crippled the organisation.
Take Action Today!
Whatever you dream of , success, peace, influence, or change remember this – it will not come without effort. And, its not just effort only but, one that produces desired results. Your future is not a mere a gift, it is your responsibility.
Start today, take deliberate steps, face challenges head-on, and commit to consistent effort that yields results. Good things are never handed to those who wait. They are claimed by those who are willing to work, learn, and grow.
