Dynamos juniors are probably the oldest existing junior club in Harare that have shown consistency over the years.
Football is now more technical and scientific, and it’s at junior development level where football evolution is introduced.
Dynamos have now turned a new leaf as they seek to invest more in junior football as they have found themselves lagging behind in some areas.
The move has been hailed by Dynamos developmental coach, Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigove.
“The level of support the juniors have been receiving in recent years is not up to scratch.
“The new executive is full of drive and it’s a breath of fresh air. They have fully embraced junior football development and made it part and parcel of the club’s daily activities.
“I can also see that they have decided to set aside a full budget for junior development. I am glad that the junior football executive has also accepted an invitation for the Dynamos juniors to participate in a tournament in South Africa,” he said.
Chigove, who is credited for producing and nurturing some of the country’s top talent, said producing top players has always been in DNA.
“Producing top players for the main team has always been my lifeblood. As we speak, people don’t know that Jayden Bakari and Keith Madera are from the Dynamos juniors.
“The problem is they have not been serious with the juniors at Under-18 level. The idea is to start a Division 2 side which will probably end up in Division 1. This will give our juniors a chance to fill the five slots reserved for them in the first team.
“Hopefully what happened in the past when Dynamos were nearly relegated and they turned to their junior players like Ernest Masango, Chamu Musanhu, Hope Chihota and Desmond Maringwa can be replicated.”
Chigove believes Dynamos head coach, Herbert Maruwa, understands the integral importance of the juniors as he was once a junior coach.
“For the record, Maruwa is a former Dynamos juniors’ coach.
“A lot of people overlook that fact, but he also has roots in development. He appreciates what it means to be in development.
“We trust the coach and we hope the Dynamos juniors will be given a chance,” he said.
