Swagga T
It’s that time of year again, where we check upon what happened between January and December. It’s official; 2013 is out and 2014 is coming. Must say, 2013 was an interesting and exciting year for us Cool Lifestyle as for a start we had a successful tour in Namibia courtesy of CHIPAWO. Oh boy the tour was on fire.
However, the best part was the return of Swag Mama and the new look of the paper. Are we ready for 2014. Let us walk on the Teenville road and see the good, the bad and the ugly of 2013.
The Good
For this year, we think the best word to describe the world of superhero comics is epic. We got to witness great story lines, exciting events, captivating moments, milestones reached and new eras being ushered in for the future.
Think of hit movie “Thor”, “Avengers”, “Iron Man” sequel and “Man of Steel” which brought light at our movie theatres. In-fact 3D is the issue.
On the techno side many teens agree with me that this year will be remembered as the year the iPad hit us and gave us a glimpse of what computing in the near future will look like. I changed mobile phones thrice in line with technology. Still on that Android was the word which came into its own, “Droids station”.
Fashion wise, many teens were trendsetters and thumbs up to you guys.
From colour blocking, fancy hairstyles to leopard and stud outfits you were always on point. Your fashion sense made Hollywood celebrities green with envy.
On music, 19-year-old local hip-hop artiste Crooger made us proud by scooping two awards while Schingy’s song is being played on
Fresh-Wave channel. Girls also ruled this year as 12-year-old Kundai Muswe scooped the Best Writer award on Child Reporters at the ZUJ awards. She put this paper on the map.
The Bad
Oh my word, many teenagers were overdoing the Mohawk hairstyle. Yes, it topped at some stage, but it lost its direction as it isn’t appropriate for some places.
The droppy pants were a no no no this year. In fact they show disrespect.
On a sad note, popular dance outfit Reflection, lost its member Anesu Chikova, last weekend soon after they performed at Miss Harare Junior.
It is stated that he was mugged and left dead by thugs on his way home. Other tragic news is that CHIPAWO lost a member Kumbirai Chipagara who was electrocuted last weekend at home.
She was scheduled to perform at the Christmas show. May their dear souls rest in peace.
The Ugly
Umm, this year also saw COTTCO rugby festival scooping the worst award as it brought more harm than good. Yes, the festival rocks, but the attitude and behaviour displayed by teens this year was off-the hook.
Imagine drinking with some going too far in public which angered some parents who said that the festival should be banned. There is no swag in being so disgusting.
Not to be left out is the issue of drugs. Some teens are believed to be drinking cough syrup and smoking marijuana to get high.
Teens, please change these ugly deeds, we don’t want any of this next year.
Wish you a Happy New Year. Don’t forget to up your swag. Remember it is now two weeks before schools open so start preparing now.
