BOTSWANA-based defender Tatenda Gora has been linked with a number of clubs in Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia ahead of his contract expiry at Gaborone United this month.

The defender joined the club in January 2024 coming from GreenFuel and he has powered GU to back-to-back league titles (2024/25, 2025/26).

Gora, a two-time Defender of the Season nominee, is again nominated along with Mothusi Johnson, Ivan Kamberipa, Shanganai Ngada, Tebogo Kopelang and Ricky Rathlogo for the same accolade.

“I am delighted that I have been nominated again for the second year running,” Gora told Zimpapers Sports Hub.

“It reflects how my hard work is being appreciated.

“That alone is a major milestone and is enough to celebrate. It makes me grateful with the people here who have welcomed me from the first day and made my stay comfortable and memorable.”

It has since emerged that Zambian giants Zanaco has since made contact while Tanzania’s Simba has also shown interest after facing Gaborone United in the CAF Champions League.

And a return to Zimbabwe remains possible.

“My job is to focus on the field of play,” Gora said.

“Now that we have finished our season, I have to take a rest as my manager focuses on my next chapter.” Gora’s management confirmed multiple offers.

“Tatenda is on the radar of several clubs. We have had formal inquiries from Zambia and Tanzania and interest from Zimbabwe.”

The manager added: “There is still time to work with all options. His relationship with Gaborone United is very good. A contract extension remains on the table.”
