Gora settling well in Gaborone

Curtworth Masango

GABORONE United defender, Tatenda Gora, says he is settling well in Botswana after his move from the Castle Lager Premiership last week.

The defending Botswana champions are in second position and are two points behind log leaders Township Rollers but with a game in hand.  The former Greenfuel defender earned his debut on Sunday in a 1-0 win over BDF XI.

“I wished to, at some stage in my career, play abroad and coming here to Botswana means that dream has been fulfilled.

“My mother, who shared that same dream with me, passed away last year and I guess she is happy for me and resting peacefully

“From my first game, I believe I will have a successful stint.

“I can say there is not much of a difference from our league in Zimbabwe, just that in Zimbabwe the game is a bit more physical and a lot of man-marking while here they focus more on space and zonal marking.

“I am looking forward to continuing to make an impact in the team and make sure I help the team win more trophies.

“I can’t say that I expect much besides continuing working hard, making a name for myself and seeing my career grow.”

Gaborone United are expected to play SuperSport Unite in a friendly this afternoon.

SuperSport have a number of Zimbabweans including Ronald Pfumbidzai, Washington Arubi, Onsimor Bhasera and Terrence Dzvukamanja. “As for the friendly against SuperSport, I am excited about facing them. The club is home to a number of fellow Zimbabweans.  “For me it will be interesting how I will fare against fellow brothers and I see it as a platform to continue shining.”
