Goromonzi gets 28 boreholes

The LDSC drilled 16 new boreholes and rehabilitated 12 others that had broken down in Pote ward 5.
The organisation together with DDF also trained pump minders from the area to attend to minor faults and assist in the maintenance of the boreholes.
About1 790 individual family members were taught eight hygiene lessons and received certificates and hygiene kits.
Speaking at the handover ceremony last week, Goromonzi West Member of Parliament, Cde Beatrice Nyamupinga, lauded LDSC for complementing Government’s efforts to attain the Millennium Development Goal 7 of halving by 2015, the number of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.
“Such projects reduce the cases of water-borne diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea. The training in hygiene and sanitation will ensure people are now better equipped to protect themselves from diseases.
“Such a commitment by the LDSC shows that they are part of us and a true friend to us,” she said.
Cde Nyamupinga encouraged the Pote community to jealously guard the boreholes and ensure they were secure and well maintained.
