WARRIORS coach Ian Gorowa has denied reports that he fought with his assistant Callisto Pasuwa in Tanzania three weeks ago. The allegations which have been awash on social networks for a while, were dismissed by Gorowa yesterday as the work of mischief-makers. “Never at any stage did I fight with Pasuwa. That is a lie, I am not the kind of person who would do that,” he told Chronicle Sport by telephone from Harare.
Gorowa said he enjoyed a good working relationship with his assistants — Mkhuphali Masuku and Pasuwa along with the two goalkeepers’ trainers Richard Tswatswa and Gift Muzadzi.
He said so far relations have been cordial in camp with everyone of them aware of his expectations and working for the common good of the country and the team.
“To tell you the truth, we have been working well and I take their recommendations professionally as expected. I also say what I think has to be done and we work well,” said Gorowa.
He said such rumours were not good for the game.
Gorowa is alleged to have headbutted Pasuwa after an argument ensued in Tanzania on the choice of the first choice goalkeeper.
The Warriors head coach is said to have preferred George Chigova ahead of Washington Arubi while the rest of the technical team wanted the Pretoria University goalkeeper.
Chigova was to blame for one of the goals against Tanzania on Sunday when he was beaten to the near post as Zimbabwe were bundled out of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers preliminaries 3-2 on aggregate.
Gorowa returned to South Africa where he is based yesterday.
Asked about the future, he said: “It’s worth taking time off to rest and reflect on what could have happened. It’s sad we could not make it.”
