Gospel music heavy weights, the Charambas, CCAP Voice of Mbare, Joseph Gakaka and Purple Pride family will combine forces in the name of charity at a show slated for tomorrow at AFM Church in Hillside.
According to event coordinator Tererai Muza, the gospel fete is set to not only entertain but raise funds to support two children’s homes as well as its founding church leaders.
These include Sekuru Gwanzura, Shumbambiri, Mvenge, Nhamo, Manyika and Gogo Mutemererwa among other elders who worked tirelessly towards the growth of AFM since its inception in Zimbabwe in 1915.
“This will be an opportunity for us to handover scholarships, laptops and furniture to underprivileged students from Manhingi in Rusape and Harare Children`s Home,” he said.
He said the show was a special family outing that would be characterised by braai, jumping castles and clowns while snacks would be available for the little ones.
“The funds obtained from the show will go towards the purchase of borehole pumps, farming equipment and a generator for Manhingi Children`s Home,” he said.
In the same breath, he appealed for well-wishers to assist in the project.
One of the performing groups, Purple Pride Choir director Albert Mtengwa promised a highly energetic and well revamped presentation of both praise songs and well known choruses.
“As a group of youths, we feel honoured to be sharing the stage with seasoned gospel musicians. We have arranged our music and have given it a new feel in terms of choir vocals and the band,” he said.
Mtengwa also said it was a fulfilment of their mission statement that entails them to honour God, thanking Him through giving resources to orphans and the underprivileged.
The show will start at 10am and ends around 6pm at the church`s gazebo.
