adminOrphan Care in Rugare, Harare, on Easter Friday at an event that also marked the official launch of Eglada’s album titled “Tiratidzei”.
“This is not just an album launch but also the launch of a foundation whose aim is to assist needy children.
“They (children) should feel loved by society and it is my obligation as an artiste to assist orphans this is my first step towards achieving this goal.
“The main objective of this foundation is to expose them (children) to mainstream careers since they often face challenges in getting opportunities,” said Eglada on the sidelines of the event.
Her sentiments were echoed by Reverend Aaron Jeremiah, one of the board of directors of the foundation, who said the trust would also help in identifying and grooming young talent.
“We want these children to be empowered from an ethical point of view. We are going to audition them for music using a studio that will be set up soon.
“From music we will then venture into identifying other talents. We want to create good citizens out of these children. We don’t want rogues and this is the reason for setting up the trust,” Reverend Jeremiah said.
Children who attended the launch were treated to food provided by Chicken Slice, courtesy of award-winning gospel musician Tawanda Mutyebere, the brains behind the fast food outlet.
“As Christians and it being Easter, we felt imperative as Chicken Slice to come and show our love to the orphans, needy children and widows by giving them food since the Bible encourages us to help the needy.
“Most of these people cannot afford to buy food for themselves and by feeding them. We want them to feel loved and we are not going to stop here,” Mutyebere, who is famous for the hits “Ikoko” and “Ndibereke”, said.
Some of the board members of the foundation include Maxwell Ngwari and businessman Jay Madondo.
