Gospel gig roars into life

The show that is being organised by the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe is going to be held at Stanley Square in Makokoba.

Show organiser, Dumisani Charles Kiwa told Saturday Leisure that all was set for the much-awaited gig.

“Methodist churches are busy preparing for choral competitions that will be held in a few weeks time.

“As part of our preparations for the competitions we have organised a fund-raising gig and Blessing is our guest musician,” he said.

Kiwa said as a church they had invited other churches to come and support their fund-raising that is meant to benefit their choral competitions.

“When we came up with this idea we told ourselves that we did not want it to be a project meant to benefit Methodist only.

“We then decided to invite other churches to support the idea and already we are going to have choirs from Word of Life and Harvest House curtain-raising the show,” he said.

The organiser said the funds that are going to be raised from the show are going to be used in transporting their choir groups and also in recording.

“This is going to lift our music in a big way as we hope that some of the funds are going to be used in recording an album as a circuit,” he said.

Kiwa said fans should come in large numbers to praise the Almighty God through song and dance.

“Besides the point of raising funds we are saying people should come in their large numbers so that we can praise our Lord through song and dance,” he said.

The organiser said the show is going to be held from 8am up to 6pm and security has been organised to protect everyone.

“I can assure you that we have organised enough security to protect fans that are going to attend the show,” he said.

Shumba said fans should expect nothing but the best from the family show.

“Everyone in the band is ready for the show and I am urging fans to come and support us in their large numbers,” he said.

Shumba, though still a newcomer in the music industry, has been one of the gospel musicians enjoying a purple patch. He has so far released two albums that include Ishewazvose and Ndimwari. Some of the songs that have made him popular are Mufaro and Ishe Ndinoziva and Timene.
