A BULAWAYO gospel group, Voice of Prophecy (VOP) is living out their mandate to preach peace and unity in the world with the release of their debut album.
Born four years ago, the eight-member accapella group recently released a 12-track album titled Walking Free.
The all-male group consists of Tommy G Moyo, Thabo Dube, Melinkosi Dube, Nqobani Khumalo, Clive Tshuma, Mbikwenhle Dube, Chrispen Ncube, Prestige Ncube and Nkosinhle Mthabisi Mhlanga.
One of the band members, Mhlanga said they recorded the album to help them spread the message of peace amid the prevalent chaos in the world.
“The album basically talks about how Jesus freed us from the bondage of sin when he died on the cross at Calvary.
This is reason enough for us to play our part in preaching that kind of gospel so as to reach the masses,” said Mhlanga.
So as to connect with the people, the group has been doing a listening session tour and has been to Nkulumane, Emakhandeni, Nketa, Sizinda and most recently, Pumula South.
“In order to practically preach our message of peace, we’ve printed apparel inscribed ‘Sonke Siyafana’ to symbolise that we’re all equal and are grateful for the love that these neighbourhoods have shown over the course of our career.”
Recorded at Elephant Herds in Nkulumane, the album consists of songs like Unamandla, Hover o’er me, Be still and the title track just to name a few.
Prior to the album release, the group which is in its fourth year of ministry released four singles and one EP. – @eMKlass_49
