musicians embarking on a nationwide tour bringing on board several other gospel musicians for a common cause. A few orphanages have been selected as beneficiaries.
Christian Entertainment founder Chinho said the initiative comes at a time when the country’s entertainment scene is on a steady rise.
“We are a group of gospel musicians who decided to plough back to the community with the little we have. Baba Manyeruke, Bishop Olla Juru and Chairman Bensern welcomed my invite to carry on a national duty,” he said.
Chinho, who is the driving force of the campaign, said economic hardships halted the progress in 2006 and forced the launch of the campaign in 2011.
“This initiative was started seven years ago, but it was difficult to sustain the programme during the period 2007-8 due to economic problems. I then revived it in 2011 and that is the time I met Baba Manyeruke and Bishop Juru who pledged their support to the cause,” said Chinho.
According to Bishop Juru, he had long wanted to embark on charity work and when Chinho approached him he was more than prepared.
“As gospel musicians our mission is to preach the word of God through music. We are messengers of the good healing word of the Lord Jesus, so if the people out there are in need of something, it is our duty as messengers to assist,” said Bishop Juru.
Baba Manyeruke and Bishop Juru have been supporting the campaign financially and sometimes with instruments particularly for the shows that were held in Bindura, Marondera and Mutare last year.
This year the group is planning to engage fast rising Mathias Mhere and Blessing Shumba in their Bindura and Gweru gigs slated for end of this month. During the tour, Chinho will also promote his new album titled “Jehovah NdiMwari” which was released two weeks ago.
