Gospel musicians speak on Xmas

which are all part of the holiday celebrations.
Looking at the New Year celebrations in particular, many people understand the New Year holiday to be a time for celebrating life and this is usually accompanied by such activities as going for all-night prayer meetings, concerts, partying, travelling and different kinds of merry-making.

To most gospel musicians in Zimbabwe the New Year holiday means many different things some of which include a time for reflecting on life, time to plan ahead as artistes and also time to reinforce one’s Christian walk.

Below are some of the comments I received from some gospel artistes who explained how the coming to an end of 2012 and the setting in of 2013 means to them.

The end of 2012 means the release of my new album “Wenyasha Ndewenyasha”.
It means the beginning of better things for me as I set higher standards for myself than before.

It’s also time for me to reflect on my successes and failures and also to pave the way for a better future since I am the architect of my own destiny.

This holiday season is also time for giving and sharing with fellow humans in a way that shows our gratitude to God for the gift of life.

My message to Zimbabwe is do not drink and drive. Don’t venture into unsafe sex. Stick to one faithful partner and remember to save school fees for kids. Above all, let us fear God in all we do.

Dick Mukonori, Boys of Thunder
The end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013 means that as Christians, we are moving closer to the end of the world and that God is giving us another chance to live. 2013 presents us with a new opportunity to achieve new goals in life.

I encourage all young Christians to be responsible during and after the festive season. We may get carried away with the holiday excitement and end up drinking and driving resulting in unnecessary accidents on the roads. Let’s avoid this.

End of 2012 marks the stamping of the seal to total ownership of all the material and spiritual gains acquired therein. However, as 2013 kicks in, we have an opportunity to start on a new page mainly for those who missed their goals in the ending year.
Madzibaba Amos Mupasi of Zvipo zvaJehovha
The end of 2012 and the setting in of 2013 should challenge people to establish a good relationship with God. What this means is if you had been struggling to be consistent in your Christian walk are you going to be able to improve your relationship with God.

Charlie Kambudzi
As a Christian and gospel artiste, the Lord has been faithful to me.
I celebrated many breakthroughs this year. As I desire to be closer to God, I take this time to make a personal check on my spiritual life.

I look forward to achieving more goals and to finish those goals I could not accomplish this year in 2012.

To people in general this time of the year is a time to celebrate and thank God for the gift of life.
It is also time for family reunions where families come together to celebrate the birth of Christ and the coming New Year.

As we do our holiday shopping we should avoid impulse buying. Let’s also drive safely and avoid injuries and loss of human life. We need to always remember that there is still life after this festive season.
