IN a bid to unite gospel artists, seasoned producer, Lyton Ngolomi, will drop a riddim featuring more than 30 musicians.
He roped in his son, Altus Ngolomi, as co-producer.
Named Lyngoma Riddim, the first ever such project will be unveiled at the Anglican Cathedral Hall in Harare on Saturday.
Evangelist Timothy Timothy and Nicholas Chirunga are coordinating the event.
Household names who featured on this riddim comprise Blessing Shumba, Mathias Mhere, Dorcas Moyo and Munyaradzi Munodawafa, among others.
In an interview with H-Metro, Ngolomi said he hopes that the project will not only foster unity among gospel artists, but also provide a platform for upcoming ones.
“This riddim is not only for established musicians, but also for upcoming ones who are struggling to make a name in the industry. It’s a platform for them to showcase their talent,” said Ngolomi.
The event will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend physically.
“I came up with this idea at the height of the Covid-19 lockdowns and decided to give my fans something, which can bring gospel artists together.
“As someone in the gospel fraternity, I approached a number of gospel artists who welcomed my idea.
“As expected, some were a bit sceptical when I came up with this idea. I, however, did not lose heart as a number of artists showed interest in the project,” he said.
Songbird, Agatha Murudzwa, did the song I love you Lord while Blessing Shumba’s track Ndinokudisai Mwari has been included on the riddim.
