THE Zimbabwe national netball team’s World Cup qualification has not gone unnoticed as the Government has showered them with US$11 000.

The Gems, who landed back in the country on Tuesday afternoon, qualified to the World Cup after beating Zambia. The World Cup will be held in South Africa next year.

Minister of Sport, Kirsty Coventry confirmed that the money will be shared by the Gems.

Zimbabwe will be making their second World Cup appearance after they also managed to qualify to the 2019 finals that were held in Liverpool. They finished in position eight.

Zimbabwe was in Pool A of the qualifiers with Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania and the hosts South Africa and they managed to finish second in the group after they only lost one game against South Africa.

The Gems went on to secure qualification for the global showpiece after South Africa handed them a lifeline by finishing in the top two of the tournament after they had lost their semifinal match against Malawi.
