Government okays Masvingo rate increases

Government has approved Masvingo City Council’s rent, services and supplementary charges by-laws.

This is contained in Statutory Instrument 183 of 2019, Masvingo (Incorporated Area) (Rent, Service and Supplementary Charges) (Amendment) by-laws, 2019 no 29 published in last Friday’s Government Gazette.

The by-laws were approved by Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister July Moyo in terms of Section 229 of the Urban Councils’ Act (chapter29:15). “It is hereby notified that the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing has, in terms of section 229 of the Urban Council’s Act (chapter 29:15), approved the following by-laws made by the Masvingo City Council,” the part of SI 183. The monthly rentals differ depending on the type of property. In terms of monthly rentals for council properties, fees now range from $15 to $50 for hostels, three-roomed and four-roomed houses.
