Government orders truck company to repair Trabablas Interchange damage

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development has ordered Tika Chem Investments, a local truck company, to repair the damage caused by one of its trucks at the Trabablas Interchange in Harare.

According to a press release, the Tika Chem truck that was transporting granite was involved in an accident at the Trabablas Interchange on July 8, with the load falling and damaging the guard rails and newly constructed pavement.

The ministry said the owner of the truck will undertake full repairs of the damaged infrastructure at their own cost.

“Following the incident, the Vehicle Inspection Department impounded the truck for further investigations,” reads the ministry’s statement.

The truck will only be released upon satisfactory completion of the repairs and after the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) conduct inspections to ensure that the vehicle meets all safety standards.

“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to inform the public of an incident involving a truck owned by Tika Chem Investments (Pvt) Ltd of 551 Empowerment Way, Willowvale, Harare.

“On 8 July 2025, the truck, while transporting a granite stone, was involved in an incident. The load fell, causing damage to the guard rails and the newly constructed pavement at the Trabablas Interchange,” reads the statement.
