GOVERNMENT has repatriated the remains of Lucia Nhangwaza who died in South Africa.
Her body arrived at Doves Funeral Services in Beitbridge at 1130 hours.
A memorial service for Lucia is being held at Doves Beitbridge, with Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Edgar Moyo leading proceedings.
Nhangwaza passed on July 14 during repatriation at the South African side of the Beitbridge Border Post.
Minister Moyo said Government remained committed to assisting vulnerable citizens abroad and ensuring that those who died outside the country were brought home with dignity.
He expressed condolences to the Nhangwaza family and the community and praised officials who coordinated the repatriation.
The remains will be transported to Chegutu for burial through Government support. Officials from the Department of Social Services are working with the family to make funeral arrangements.
The Minister said the repatriation was made possible through collaboration between the Zimbabwe Embassy in Pretoria, the Department of Social Services, and other border agencies at Beitbridge.
He said the Government will continue to provide assistance to citizens in distress outside the country and facilitate the return of remains where needed.
