GOVERNMENT has moved in to resuscitate the Musami Mission Hospital which has been deteriorating thereby affecting services to the communities in Mashonaland East Province.
Recently, Health and Child Care deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro visited the hospital after the authorities raised a red flag over the crumbling state of the health institution.
Dr Mangwiro, together with his delegation from the Ministry toured the hospital and noted areas that need urgent attention if the hospital is to give world-class services.
For instance, the hospital does not have a functional theatre room and ambulances which are critical components of a hospital for emergency cases.
To this, Government has already provided for the theatre equipment and an ambulance, while a lasting solution to accommodation and food challenges for the doctors and nurses is being worked out.
An isolation ward for Covid-19 patients has also been set up and already six beds have been provided for the Intensive Care Unit.
Musami Mission Hospital is one of the biggest health care centres in Mashonaland East and services more than 50 000 people.
