SPECIAL Advisor to the President on Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes and Projects, Dr Jorum Gumbo, is y expected to begin a validation and implementation assessment of several strategic development projects in Matabeleland North Province.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to monitor progress on Government programmes and projects and ensure they remain on course for completion in line with national development priorities.
During the first phase of the tour, Dr Gumbo is expected to visit Lupane Provincial Hospital, the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, the Welshman Mabhena Composite Office Block, the Lupane State University Technovation Block and the Bubi-Lupane Irrigation Scheme.
The three-day visit will also see the Special Advisor touring the Kamativi Mining Company, the Bhulaayo Kraal Irrigation Scheme in Binga District, the Binga Registry and the Binga Border Post.
Dr Gumbo is further scheduled to visit the resort city of Victoria Falls where he will assess progress on the International Cricket Stadium project, which is expected to enhance the country’s sports tourism and international events hosting capacity.
The itinerary also includes visits to the Hwange Industrial Park, the Jian Qing Cement Plant and the Gwayi-Shangani Dam, one of Zimbabwe’s flagship water infrastructure projects.
The assessments are expected to provide Government with an opportunity to evaluate implementation progress, identify bottlenecks and recommend interventions where necessary to accelerate project delivery.
