Government strengthens cultural exchange with Iran

Students from Blessed Hope Gaza Academy and Mountain Bay School on Friday visited the Iranian Embassy’s Cultural Centre to get a greater understanding and appreciation of Iranian culture.

The event featured the importance of cultural diplomacy in promoting peace and education.

Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, Cultural Councellor Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hamid Bakhtiyar emphasised the importance of cultural exchanges between Iran and Zimbabwe.

He said there is need for people-to-people engagements to understand the existing friendly Government relations.

“This event help us to enhance cultural exchanges between Iran and Zimbabwe,” he said. “We have very good and friendly relations with the Government and the Republic of Zimbabwe, unfortunately the people of two countries, they do not have enough information about our culture, our traditions, our customs.

“So, as a cultural centre of the embassy, we are working on the cultural exchanges between two countries.”

He took time to inform the students about Iran’s social life, heritage, history, and educational opportunities, aiming to motivate them to learn about Iranian culture and potentially pursue scholarships to study in Iran.

“We explained the opportunity for education and scholarship that we have in Iran,” he said.

“We told them about the international festivals and events and the exhibition that we have in Iran, and we can facilitate for those who are interested to continue their education in Iran through the provision of scholarship.”

Meanwhile, the executive director of Blessed Hope Gaza Academy, Dr Norbert Hosho expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to the students.

“We are dedicated to teaching our students the importance of peace, understanding, and compassion,” he said.

“Our school was actually founded to honor the memory of Palestinian children who lost their lives, and we strive to inspire our students to become empathetic and responsible global citizens.”

The principal of Mountain Bay School, Domboshava, Mr Boas Foroma, also praised the initiative.

“We appreciate the Cultural Centre’s efforts in organising visits that broaden our students’ horizons and enrich their educational experiences,” he said.

“Exposure to different cultures is essential for developing well-rounded individuals who can contribute positively to society.”

Students from both schools actively participated in discussions during the visit, asking questions about Iranian customs and traditions.

They expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the embassy staff and left with a deeper understanding of Iran’s cultural heritage.
