Government task force to monitor road projects

THE national technical team established by the Government to monitor the implementation of road projects under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP2) is expected to visit road projects in Matabeleland North this week.

The three-day visit which will start tomorrow is aimed at assessing not only the state of roads but to monitor progress being made on ongoing roadworks in five local authorities in the province.

These are Tsholotsho, Lupane Local Board, Kusile Rural District Council, Hwange Local Board, and Hwange Rural District Council where a number of road works are underway in partnership between local authorities and the Government.

District Development Fund Permanent Secretary Mr Christopher Shumba who chairs the technical team is expected to lead the delegation that is supposed to depart Harare this afternoon for the tour that starts tomorrow.

According to a programme, the team will pay a courtesy call at the Bulawayo Metropolitan province tomorrow morning before a briefing with Tsholotsho RDC after which the team will travel to Tsholotsho for the start of a tour of the projects.

On Wednesday the team will travel to Lupane before proceeding to Hwange for a sleepover ahead of the tour of roads on Thursday.
