THE Government and UNDP have held a high-level review of Zimbabwe’s Country Programme, highlighting progress in development, governance, and climate resilience, and reaffirming commitment to Vision 2030.
The review provided a platform to assess programme outcomes, draw lessons, and plan the next phase of development cooperation, ensuring alignment with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and national priorities.
Speaking at the review, Dr Ayodele Odusola, UNDP Resident Representative, said, “Despite global and national uncertainties, 2025 has been a year defined by resilience, partnership, and policy leadership.”
He highlighted how digital health systems, targeted subsidies, and innovative solutions, including renewable energy and AI, are benefiting communities.
Ms Margarita Makuwaza, the acting chief director from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, said the 2026 National Budget is forward-looking, setting the stage for a transformative economy.
She also added that partnerships with UNDP and other stakeholders are key to sustaining growth.
“Dialogue is essential to ensure that development assistance is well aligned, effectively coordinated and integrated into national planning and budgeting processes,” she said.
Speaking at the same event, Ms Anna Tinarwo, the chief director in the Office of the President and Cabinet, emphasised results, “Our goal is to ensure that by the end of the Country Programme, we can say we made a change in the lives of Zimbabweans.”
She noted that programmes are strategically aligned across four areas, people, climate, prosperity, and peace, and that lessons from the review will guide planning for the next CPD.
