Government says churches should follow the example of the United Methodist Church of Zimbabwe and unite in the development of clusters under the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Development blueprint.

Speaking at the UMC Zimbabwe West annual conference head office’s dedication ceremony in Harare yesterday, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province Miriam Chikukwa commended the church for its contribution to the infrastructure and utility cluster under Zim-Asset by constructing its head office in Milton Park.

“I understand that it is through self-reliance programmes that UMC Zimbabwe has managed to construct this state of the art building despite the current economic difficulties afflicting the country,” she said.

“Through this, the church has played a meaningful role within our economic blueprint the Zim-Asset under the infrastructure and utilities cluster and the social services and poverty eradication cluster,” said Cde Chikukwa.

Resident Bishop of the Zimbabwe episcopal area of the UMC, Reverend Eben Kanukayi Nhiwatiwa said it took faith and oneness to build the head office.
