Gushungo-Magamba Chimurenga Choir has taken Mashonaland Central by storm through patriotic songs that are proving popular at many gatherings. When the group performed at Independence Day celebrations recently at Chipadze Stadium in Bindura, the group got wild cheers and deafening applause for their outstanding performance.
The group shared the stage with Zimbabwe National Army Band, Headquarters Artillery Brigade Band and Zimbabwe Republic Police Band as well as Bindura Urban Chimurenga Choir based in.
Gushungo-Magamba Chimurenga Choir vice chairperson Sandi Gatsi said they feel very encouraged to see Zimbabweans still supporting Chimurenga musical genres as it signifies patriotism.
She said the group was very pleased to perform on such great gatherings of commemorating peace and stability being enjoyed in the country.
“We are very much pleased to see our fans who are also supporters of the revolutionary party, Zanu PF still having the desire to see us excelling in Chimurenga music. It symbolises another higher level of patriotism to our fellow Zimbabweans.
“We are very much proud of seeing ourselves performing on such great gatherings. It is a blessing to us as a group.
“As we sing we are also reminding people where we came from as a nation,” said Gatsi.
She also said chimurenga music carries a feel which evoke a revolutionary spirit of and teaches the youths to continue having a desire for their country.
“Our songs encourage people of Zimbabwe to be proud of their country and to send a message to the youths to have the pride in their country, which came as a result of the liberation struggle,” she said.
Gatsi said was they were expecting to launch a new album titled “Vhotera Pamasvingo” with eight tracks that include “Kupemberera Zimbabwe” and “Hungwe” on May 27.
“After the launch of this third album we are expecting people to be united as we gear towards elections so that our revolutionary party will continue in power.
“Those who have been misled by other opposition politicians should come back and vote for our President, Cde Mugabe,” she said.
