Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Larry Mavima has tasked Government departments to deliver on time.
Speaking to heads of various Government departments recently, Minister Mavima said he wants to do away with red tape in public offices.
“I advise all Government departments to deliver results on time and I have already indicated that I do have a 24-hour turnaround policy and I expect it will be implemented whereby anything that comes on any desk should be processed and leave within 24 hours.
“If one fails to do it, he or she is supposed to give it to someone who can and not sit on it,” said Minister Mavima.
He challenged all heads of Government departments to submit reports on time, as expected by President Mnangagwa.
“I demand and expect all heads of Government departments to submit reports of activities happening in the province on time by the end of each month since I am expected to submit them to my principal.
“If the hammer falls from the top it continues to go down, therefore the President expects us to work and to meet deadlines,” said Minister Mavima.
Meanwhile, former Provincial Minister Owen Ncube said appealed to the Midlands community to support the new minister. He was speaking at his farewell ceremony as well as reception for the incoming Minister Mavima.
“As the outgoing minister, I would like to thank you for the cooperation I received from you during my term.
“I enjoyed all your support you gave in all activities we had for the development of our province.
“It is my hope that you will work even harder with the incoming minister whom I am handing over to the safe hands of Midlands,” said Cde Ncube.
