Education, Sports, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Lazarus Dokora last week visited the school and urged stakeholders to contribute to the rehabilitation of the school.
“We have injected US$60 000 for the rehabilitation of the school,” he said.
He said about US$200 000 was needed for the full rehabilitation of the school and expressed hope that by the end of June it would be restored back to its former state.
“The school was given to the Government by the Dutch Reformed Church and this requires us to work with the Public Works ministry and the museums and monuments experts to preserve the heritage,” he said.
He urged the community to also come on board and assist in the project.
“We have motivated the community including business operators within Chivhu to assist in the project.
Innscor contributed US$10 000 while other well wishers donated 75 bags of cement. The shcool that has an enrolment of over 1 000 students was built in 1898 by the Dutch Reformed Church
