Rotarians to the help

the Government, Red Cross and its partners’ call to foster a charity campaign. Chitungwiza Rotary president Mr Patrick Chihumbiri said they would continue to support the blast victims and would assist Government and Red Cross to get more corporate partners for the common cause.

“Our hearts as the Chitungwiza Rotarians, bleed for the victims and we coming on board to answer to Government’s call for supporting the needy. We are also honoured to share the same sentiments with the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society who have been leading this campaign and several other humanitarian works world over. Now that the blast attracted the nation’s response, we found out that the Government and Red Cross cannot champion the campaign alone,” added Mr Chihumbiri.

The Rotarians donated 10 000 bricks and 40 bags of cement to start construction of the houses. Mrs Stella Dongo, the newly appointed Rotary district governor said the donation might not be enough for the rebuilding of the houses, but would help the victims.

“This gesture of goodwill on the part of Rotarians symbolises friendship, a spirit of cohesion within the community, a sense of responsibility and it has been done out of the depths of the Rotarian hearts,” she said.
