Zanu PF Midlands Province Proportional Representative, Cde Tsitsi Zhou, has urged the Government to urgently address the issue of pirate taxis, commonly referred to as “mushika-shika”, which she accused of causing road accidents that have resulted in the deaths and injuries of scores of people.

Cde Zhou made these remarks today while raising a point of national interest in the National Assembly.

“Most of these vehicles are always overloaded, with a car like a Honda Fit carrying up to 11 people in some instances, when it is not designed to carry such a huge number of passengers,” she said.

Cde Zhou proposed that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, present a ministerial statement on what the Government is doing to curb road accidents and the operations of mushika-shika.
