A 52-year-old grandfather from Buhera has been sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for raping his 14-year-old mentally-challenged granddaughter.
Sometime in September last year, the grandfather travelled from his village to the complainant’s village and found her in her kitchen hut.
He entered the kitchen hut and ordered her to lay down on the floor facing upwards.
He then raped her and threatened to kill her if she ever reported the matter to anyone.
But the complainant reported the case to her mother when she returned from Harare.
