AN 82-year-old woman has told a court in Harare that her grandson always tries to rape her whenever he gets drunk.
Gogo Mandizvidza yesterday testified against her grandson, Brian Ruwinza, accusing him of insulting her and attempting to rape her whenever he gets drunk.
She claimed Ruwinza’s behaviour has left her depressed.
She also claimed Brian has been chasing away her tenants from her house and this has left her without income on some occasions.
“Whenever he is drunk, he demands to have sex with me.
“I have turned him away a number of times and he gets mad and physically assaults me,” she told the court.
“He is in the habit of chasing away my tenants leaving me without any income to buy my medicine.”
Ruwinza blamed his wayward behaviour on alcohol and substance abuse.
“These things happen when I am drunk and I won’t remember any of it.
“I apologise for my actions and plead for the court’s lenience,” he said.
He also confessed to taking some of Gogo Mandizvidza’s money while drunk.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga granted Gogo Mandizvida a protection order.
She barred Ruwinza from harassing or contacting her.
