TWO men have been arrested while a woman is on the run after stealing nine goats belonging to an 85-year-old granny in Tsholotsho.
Khumalo Maphosa, 44, of Mtshina Area and Enock Dube, 37, of Dupute Area under chief Tategulu, were arrested for stock theft.
Grace Moyo, 37, of Mtshina area is still at large.
The goats have since been recovered in Plumtree.
The trio allegedly stole goats belonging to Rossy Gumbo of Buthabubili village in Tsholotsho on April 30 at around 9 PM.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Sergeant Namatirai Mashona said police were appealing to members of the public with information that could lead to Moyo’s arrest to come forward.
“I can confirm receiving a report on the trio who stole nine goats worth about $300, 00 from another villager. Two of the suspects have been arrested while we’re still looking for their female accomplice.
“The trio drove the goats from Gumbo’s kraal and managed to escape unnoticed,” said Sgt Mashona.
She said anyone with information that may lead to Moyo’s arrest should contact the police on their WhatsApp platform on 0784 270 800 or the nearest police station.
Gumbo told The Chronicle: “The thieves drove off the goats without anyone seeing them. We traced their footprints which headed towards Plumtree until we got wind that they had been seen in Plumtree.
“I notified police who investigated the matter and got a tip-off as to where exactly the goats had been seen leading to the arrest of the two men. The woman is at large as she disappeared from her village when investigations started.”
