GOGO Violet Mugabiri of Zvishavane in the Midlands Province is seeking help from well-wishers as she is battling serious health challenges which have rendered her unable to walk.

Gogo Mugabiri (86) is currently staying with her daughter at their rural home and she can only move by crawling, even to the family’s pit latrine located 30 metres from the house.

A relative, Ms Theresa Walaza, said Gogo Violet, as she is affectionately known, was in urgent need of a wheelchair and other assistive devices to help her move around.

Apart from her limited mobility, Gogo Violet is also battling high blood pressure, diabetes, eye problems and severe pain in her leg.

She had been using a walking stick for over two years until she could no longer walk because of the unbearable leg pain, which forced her to resort to crawling.

“Gogo Violet has no cellphone, making it challenging for her to reach out for help. We are appealing to the Zimbabwean public to come to Gogo Violet’s aid,” said Ms Walaza.

Gogo Mugabiri’s husband died just two weeks ago, further compounding her dire situation.

Ms Walaza said in addition to a wheelchair, she also needs a commode chair, a walker and a chair to use during bathing. At night, Gogo Mugabiri makes use of a bucket when nature calls.

Well-wishers can get in touch with the family on +263 772 339 820.
