A BULAWAYO man was yesterday dragged to the maintenance court by his ex-mother-in-law.

Rosah Ndlovu demanded $251 for school fees from Jabulani Mlotshwa, the father of her granddaughter.

According to court records, a magistrate ordered Mlotshwa to pay Z$200,000 maintenance in 2007.

In 2011 the court ordered Mlotshwa to pay $47 and half the school fees for his daughter and the other half to be paid by the mother of the child.

Mlotshwa pleaded with magistrate Sithembiso Ncube to consider that he had four other children to support.

“Ndlovu took the child from St Bernard’s high school without my permission and has moved my daughter to a boarding school which costs $500.

“I’ve four other children that need to be catered for with my $432 salary. She took her to a boarding school to spite me,” he said.

Mlotshwa told the court he could only afford the previous school fees.

Ndlovu pleaded with the court to compel both parents to pay her granddaughter’s school fees.

“I just want half of the school fees from Mlotshwa and the other half from my daughter.

“I don’t believe that he has four other children,” said Ndlovu.

Magistrate Ncube ordered Mlotshwa to produce the birth certificates of his four children and a valid payslip.
