Tucked away in Masvingo lies the breathtaking Great Zimbabwe Ancient City, a testament to the region’s rich history.
Built centuries ago between 1100 and 1500 AD, this colossal stone structure has defied time, igniting curiosity in all who visit.
The name ‘Zimbabwe’ itself is derived from the Shona phrase ‘dzimba dzemabwe,’ or ‘stone houses.’
Today, the Zimbabwean Government proudly preserves this ancient marvel, featuring imposing stone walls constructed
without mortar, spread across 1 800 acres.
The ingenious Bantu-speaking ancestors of the Shona tribe are the masterminds behind this incredible feat.
