GREEN Fuel, Zimbabwe’s biggest ethanol producer, has started producing hand sanitisers to assist in the fight against coronavirus.
The company is already in the process of donating over 10 000 litres of sanitisers to local hospitals and clinics, as well as a number of organisations involved in the fight against the pandemic.
Donations were also made to the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Harare City Council for onward distribution to clinics and hospitals.
Manufactured to World Health Organisation (WHO) standards, the sanitisers are made from 80 percent ethanol; 1,45 percent glycerol; 0,125 percent hydrogen peroxide and 18,425 percent demineralised water.
Green Fuel has also donated to hospitals and organisations such as Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital,
Beatrice Infectious Diseases Hospital, The Avenues Clinic, Miracle Missions and ZiNCAT.
The company’s corporate social responsibility manager, Mrs Nicole Rautenbach, confirmed the diversification of the company’s business portfolio.
She said they would continue manufacturing the product and distributing it.
Last week, the company announced that it had taken a decision to manufacture ethanol-based hand sanitisers to minimise shortages on the market following the outbreak of Covid-19.
