Green light for Kincard Awards

THe Kincard Annual Sports Awards have been set for December 9 in Harare according an opportunity to locally develop sport in line with international best practices.

The awards, which are the brainchild of Sports Science Institute Zimbabwe, were last year put on hold to pave way for legislative corrective measures.

Currently it is the Sports Commission that is mandated to host sports awards at national level.

Nongerai Makurumidze, who is the project director of SSIZ, recently said preparations for the awards were on course.

He said the aim and objective of the event is to assess the level of sport development philosophy and set of values and technologies, junior policy programmes, projects, products and services, sport development environmental programmes by stakeholders.

Added to this, the awards will identify and define the main trends of development areas as well as create and develop a unique platform for dialogue, exchange of experiences and possible lessons, presentations/symposiums of technical knowledge methodology of multi-sectorial approaches solutions.

“Sports Science Institute Zimbabwe/KICSSRT Awards initiative celebrates excellence in sport high performance practice, strategy and products, complementing the Ministry of Sport and Recreation efforts and Zim-Asset initiatives.

“The awards seek to recognise the most innovative, ambitious and effective initiatives by the Zimbabwean business fraternity and individuals for achieving competent competitive sport environmental sustainability and implementing smart business practice.

“All is set for the awards which are set to become Zimbabwe’s most comprehensive awards on the subject of sport development in the context of Long Term Athlete Development,” Makurumidze said.
