GREENFUEL has secured the services of right-back Blessing Kagudu from Bikita Minerals as they strengthen the squad for the last 15 games of the season.
The signing comes when Greenfuel are currently mid-table, and want to push for a top-eight finish.
Club chairman Fredson Moyo confirmed the acquisition, stating that Kagudu’s addition will provide much-needed depth.
“We have brought in Blessing Kagudu to join the team. We believe he will be a good addition and will add quality to our squad,” Moyo said.
They are also in the market for a striker to bolster their attacking options.
“We are looking to bring in an outright striker to strengthen our frontline and add more goals,” Moyo added.
The move follows the recent appointment of coach Rodwell Dhlakama.
However, Dhlakama’s tenure began slowly as Greenfuel suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ngezi Platinum on Saturday.
The football doctor has been in charge for two games, including the draw against CAPS United.
Out of a possible six, Dhlakama has earned a single point but GreenFuel leadership believes he will turn things for the better as they are ready for a top eight finish.
“We have worked with Dhlakama before and we are aware of his capabilities.
“In football you have to understand that a lot of things change with time and when we felt we needed a new coach it was good to learn that Dhlakama was ready to come and lead the team.
“His quality is well known and we hope he has what it takes to take the club up the ladder. We are targeting a top eight finish and that’s what we want,” said Moyo.
Greenfuel are in 13th position with 20 points. They have failed to win a game in their last 7 outings.
In their next encounter they are travelling to Bulawayo to face Highlanders.
