GREENFUEL coach Sibonginkosi Dube says they need to guard against complacency as they fancy their chances of claiming the Nedbank Premier Netball League title.
The league games which are being played in clusters continue this Saturday with a full fixture schedule that will see games being played in Harare, Marondera and Beitbridge.
The games in Harare are set for Stodart Netball Complex in Mbare and in Beitbridge matches are due to take place at St Joseph’s while in Marondera teams will converge in Dombotombo. Harare will host cluster one and two while cluster three games are set for Beitbridge. Cluster four and five will take place in Marondera.
GreenFuel are up against Expandables, Lupane and Zupco in Marondera.
The Chisumbanje-based side is second on the log table with 52 points from 27 games. They have lost just one game.
Log leaders Platinum Queens have 58 points from 30 games having also lost just a game.
GreenFuel coach Dube urged her charges to guard against complacency as they entertain their chances in championship race.
Going into Saturday’s games, GreenFuel will be seeking to continue with their fine run, having collected maximum points in the last round of matches played last month.
“We have known that we cannot take wins to the next game, what is done is done, we will not approach any game over confident.
“We have got to guard against complacency. So if we manage to do that and stick to our basics and stick to the game dynamics that we have been working so hard on since beginning of this season, I believe we have a fair chance at aiming for the championship.
“The championship is one thought l am toying with. If it is achievable l will go for it, if not l will settle for what l have achieved,” said Dube. It is likely to be a close contest between Platinum Queens and GreenFuel for the title as the 2023 programme approaches the final phase.
The two teams will meet final bubble scheduled for next month but their focus this weekend now is to ensure they pick maximum points ahead of the final bubble that is scheduled for the first week of November. Platinum Queens are this weekend scheduled to take on Filchrist ZJC, Rhinos, Harare City, Harare District and Stormers.
