Statistics says he is the Best Male Gospel musician in Africa!

This is the current news in the gospel sector in Africa, of multi-award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi who won the biggest award in Africa at the just-ended Clima Africa in Lagos, Nigeria.

The glitz and glamour show held on Monday night not only saw Mlalazi scooping the “Best Male Gospel Artiste of the Year,” beating other talented artistes such as Nathaniel Bassey, Moses Bliss, Testimony Jaga, and Joe Mettle from Ghana among others.

It seems the musician had a good day in the office as he left fans clamouring for more according to a circulating video about the event. The Clima Africa was a green carpet show hosted by talented social personality Oyeyiga Mary.

Soon after being announced winner, Mlalazi took to social media to show his ecstasy to his fans.

The “Ekhaya” hitmaker who arrived last  night from Nigeria, said this is huge to him and will go a long way in developing, shaping and motivating his career.

“I am elated,” he said.

“I am very much honoured to be able to win an international award. This to me is recognition for our beautiful country Zimbabwe, recognition of the work team EM has put in, led by my manager and wife.

I want to appreciate my team, The Vine and Worship Therapy for walking this journey with me.”

He said the award was voted for by mostly Zimbabweans and fans from other countries.

“I want to acknowledge and appreciate them. Music is a universal language, and our gospel music must be played internationally in both Ndebele and Shona.”

“God permitting our vision as espoused in Matthew 28vs18 which says ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations’, take note All nations which means we must be everywhere with this gospel, and our chosen medium is music,” explained Mlalazi.

Asked what lessons can be drawn from Nigeria, the musician said for the Zimbabwean music sector to grow, it needs to be united.

“The Nigerian gospel musicians are unified. The local gospel needs gospel awards that honour and encourage gospel musicians to a standard of excellence in their work and with more corporate support, this is achievable,” he said. He said he was working on an album to celebrate 10 years of existence with The Vine next year.

“It’s a double delight because even as EM I will be releasing my third offering in 2024. It’s an exciting year with exciting prospects. Yes, there are albums, coming soon.”

However, the Clima Africa Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of African artistes and musicians across a range of genres.

The awards ceremony is a highly anticipated event in the African music calendar, and this year’s event is expected to be no exception.

As Zimbabwe’s music industry continues to grow and evolve, artistes like Mlalazi are playing an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s cultural landscape.

The Clima Africa Awards are just one example of the many opportunities available to African artists and musicians who are looking to make their mark on the global stage.

With a rich and diverse cultural heritage, Africa is home to some of the world’s most talented and innovative artistes, and events like the Clima Africa Awards help to showcase their work to a wider audience.
