TWO Inyathi men are facing murder charges after allegedly teaming up to butcher a love rival in a grisly bloodbath that has left the community in shock.

Kudzie Takaendesa (24) and Fanuel Moyo (30), appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Abednico Ndebele charged with murder. They were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody to 8 September. The pair was advised to apply for bail at the High Court and informed of their right to legal representation.

According to court papers, Fanuel had gone to his girlfriend’s homestead intending to spend the night. But when he got there, he allegedly found her between the sheets with another man, Admire Ndlangamandla.

A fight broke out as Fanuel tried to attack the two. However, Admire managed to overpower him and fled to his home.

Consumed by rage, Fanuel reportedly phoned his friend Kudzie and narrated the humiliating encounter. Kudzie responded swiftly and the two armed themselves with a knife and stones before heading to Admire’s family home.

It is alleged that the duo confronted Admire and pelted him with stones before setting his bedroom hut ablaze. They turned the savagery up several notches, stabbing him repeatedly all over the body. Admire bled heavily and died on the spot.

The court heard how the duo tried to cover up for the crime but later abandoned the attempt.

They carried the lifeless body and dumped it at a neighbour’s yard before fleeing.

Police launched a manhunt which quickly led to the arrest of the bloodthirsty pair.

The brutal killing has left villagers in Inyathi stunned, with many describing the murder as the most gruesome they have witnessed in years.

The case continues.
