A CART loaded with groceries allegedly stolen from a Pumula East shop led police straight to two suspects, while a third remains on the run.
The trio allegedly broke into the shop at Pumula East Shopping Centre and made off with groceries worth US$350.
The break-in happened between 7.30pm on 22 September and 7.24am the following day.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said officers were led to a house in Pumula East after the suspects were allegedly spotted pushing a cart loaded with groceries.
“Police reacted swiftly and proceeded to the said house where two suspects were arrested,” said Inspector Msebele.
The suspects were identified as Philani Never Mzobe (35), Blessing Mahachi (21) and Mondliwethu BJ Masango (21), all from Pumula East.
Police recovered groceries worth US$260.
Masango remains at large.
The 55-year-old shopkeeper from Pumula North had locked up the shop and left everything intact when he knocked off on 22 September.
When he returned the following morning, he discovered that the shop had been broken into.
The total value of the stolen property was US$350.
