INDIGENISATION lobby group, the Economic Empowerment Group (EEG), has urged CCC leader Mr Nelson Chamisa to concede that his party lost last week’s harmonised elections and stop holding the country at ransom by threatening to sponsor civil unrest.
Addressing journalists while congratulating President Mnangagwa for his victory in the elections, EEG vice president and former legislator Mr Munyaradzi Kashambe said the opposition was being pushed by its sponsors to dispute the election results.
Mr Kashambe said if Mr Chamisa truly had the nation at heart, he should endorse the results and allow the smooth running of the country.
“We would like to congratulate President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his victory in the just ended harmonised elections,” he said.
“In the same vein, we would like to pray for the President that he keeps directing the nation towards Vision 2030. As an empowerment lobby group, we are a bit disturbed by the same opposition party which when they win parliamentary elections, they admit and celebrate the process as fair and when they lose the Presidential elections, they start casting aspersions on the whole process.
“We cannot allow Nelson Chamisa to keep holding Zimbabwe to ransom. Remember Zimbabwe has suffered a lot and the coming in of the New Dispensation has seen measurable achievements towards developing our country.”
Mr Kashambe said since the coming in of the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa, the country had been undergoing major developments.
“We have success stories coming from the leadership of President Mnangagwa. Our roads and airports have been rehabilitated so that we have investors coming in,” he said.
“Now that elections are gone and investment is waiting at our borders, we start hearing the bickering again from Nelson Chamisa. It is now known and factual that it is not him but the people behind him who are pushing their agenda which is known to the whole nation and the whole world.”
Mr Kashambe said Mr Chamisa should concede defeat and endorse President Mnangagwa as the leader of the country.
“Nelson Chamisa has actually said before the elections that if he loses, he is not going to accept the results but we have a lot of prominent names that conceded defeat,” he said.
“Chamisa should have the nation at heart and endorse the results, allow the much awaited investors to come in and allow the smooth running of the nation.”
