ALL is set for the 2019 body-building opening contest, the GS Classic, at High-Glen Shopping Centre with over 100 athletes tomorrow. The contest is the brainchild of body-building athlete, Simbarashe Mhaka, will be hosted by Iron Lion Nutrition, in conjunction, with Harare Body-building and Fitness Association.
Iron Lion Nutrition will be the headline sponsor, complimenting Musclerage Supplements, Empire Gym, Supplement Factory, Fitness for Her Clothing, Active Fitness Group, Caves Fitness, Cards Unlimited and well as the GS Fitness Academy.
Zimbabwe National Federation of Body-building and Fitness spokesperson, Quiet Shangai, said the objective of the event is to bring various players in the fitness sector together to create sustainable supply chains, to develop athletes who are still in need of exposure and to educate the community on health and fitness.
“We are also encouraged by the organising committee for strength challenges, headed by Alec Jaure, who also confirmed that the big boys will participate at the event.
“Initially, the contest had five events — body-building and fitness competition, competitive aerobics, casual aerobics and fitness fare but strength challenges have been confirmed.
“By adding the strength challenges, it will renew the competition between athletes like Prosper Saungweme, Philip Kativhu and Bunny Murugweni it will be interesting to see who will come up tops,” said Shangai.
In the body-building and fitness division, athletes are expected from Bulawayo, Marondera, Mutare and Harare.
