Gumbo backs minister

Sunday Mail Reporter
Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo has thrown his weight behind Lands and Rural Resettlement Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora’s quest to reverse illegal land occupations. Mr Gumbo said Zanu-PF was equally concerned about the involvement of politicians in such cases. “Dr Mombeshora is correct; he is following the party’s policy. We, as a party, do not allow people to invade farms. We cannot tolerate that. Politicians should not lie to the people because they do not own the land. The land belongs to the State, which has the power to allocate it.

“They (illegal occupants) have to be evicted. Thereafter, we will allocate them land properly without causing unnecessary disputes and disrupting farming activities.”
