Gumbo urges electorate to vote for President

Gwanda Correspondent
THE Zanu-PF candidate for Gwanda Central National Assembly Cde Edson Gumbo has urged mining communities in the district to vote for President Mugabe and the revolutionary party in the forthcoming harmonised elections. Cde Gumbo said such a development  would make sure the indigenisation and empowerment programmes continued for the benefit of the people including mining communities.

Addressing a campaign rally at Blanket Mine, 18km from Gwanda Town, attended by scores of people on Friday last week, Cde Gumbo said there was every reason for the people to vote for President Mugabe as he was a man of vision and a big unifier who had brought tremendous progress to the country.

“Our President is a hard worker and a respected leader in Africa. You should vote for a capable leader who has been tried and tested, with a track record of defending our sovereignty. Under his leadership the country has made big strides in areas of empowerment, peace and harmony.

“As the miners you stand to continue benefiting from the employee share ownership scheme by reaping the gains of the indigenisation and empowerment programmes as the President is committed to improving the lives of the mine workers,” he said.

Cde Gumbo also paid tribute to the Blanket Mine Company for showing commitment to working with the Government under the leadership of President Mugabe.

“We would like to thank the Blanket Mine management for being one of the pioneer companies that complied with the indigenisation programmes,” he said.

Cde Gumbo said Zanu-PF was a party with a rich political history.

He said people should desist from being carried away into joining “fly by night” parties with nothing to offer Zimbabweans.
He also called on women to vote for Zanu-PF as the party’s policies  supported their cause.
