team ahead of the derby against Harare giants Dynamos at Rufaro on Sunday.
The 2009 champions had gone for seven matches without a win in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League until they stunned the highly-fancied FC Platinum at Maglas on Wednesday.
The win helped Gunners move from the bottom of the 16-team log to 14th place.
A first half brace by Cliff Sekeke and another goal by Ishmael Lawe gave Gunners the priceless three points.
Dodo, who gave his charges a rest day yesterday, is hopeful of continuing their fine form against Dynamos.
“We played well against FC Platinum and we did not allow the performance of the match officials to affect us. We had a game plan and played according to it and I am happy it worked well for us,” said Dodo.
Dodo was left seething with anger at the match officials who handled their game against Masvingo United where they lost 3-2 at Mucheke at the weekend.
“Against Dynamos it will be a different game.
“Games against Dynamos are always tight but we are fighting to collect the three points,” said Dodo.
Dodo went into battle at Maglas without veteran midfielder Ashley Rambanapasi and skipper Qadr Amin who are undergoing trails in South Africa.
The availability of Rambanapasi and Amin remains largely in doubt ahead of the tie on Sunday.
It could be a blessing in disguise for Rambanapasi if he is to miss the clash as he will not be at the receiving end of the Dynamos boo-boys.
Rambanapasi was a victim of abuse from a section of the DeMbare fans during the Independence Cup semi-final at Rufaro last month.
The midfielder played well but was sent off in the second half as Dynamos won the game 1-0.
Dodo is hoping that his strikers will come to the party on Sunday.
“I must applaud our attacking players for doing well at Maglas and I hope they continue doing so against Dynamos.
“We played as a team while FC Platinum have a number of talented players but they play as individuals,” said Dodo.
Gunners are now tied on six points with Shabanie Mine and Shooting Stars.
Shooting stars had a successful outing as they dismissed Kiglon 3-1 in a Premiership game but will now hope to beat Masvingo United at Mucheke.
The Wild Boys are also set to move base from Harare to Mutare, after striking a deal with businessmen in the city, with club vice-president Lewis Matindife saying a statement will come from the club soon.
Shooting Stars coach Partson Ndabambi said he was now drawing inspiration from Gunners’ good show at Maglas.
“We are going to face Masvingo United who are unbeaten at home this season.
“But records are made to be broken and I hope that we will become the first team to beat Masvingo United at Mucheke this season.
“Actually I now draw motivation from the fact that Gunners managed to beat FC Platinum at home.
“Masvingo have proud history of winning at home and the only team which managed to take away a point from them was Monomotapa, maybe because Tau Mangwiro is a former Masvingo coach.
“We just have to work hard as a unit and get the win. I have told some of players that it’s a mockery their names are associated with a team at the bottom. We have to work hard,” said Ndabambi.
